Experience

In a semi-remote environment, Camp Cook organizes, maintains, orders and cooks for the crew. The position requires at a minimum 2-years of kitchen experience and menu planning. All employees of Gold Rush Dog Tours, LLC must have and provide current CPR and First Aid or greater credentials, valid for the duration of the operating season, prior to employment. Gold Rush Dog Tours, LLC demands employee dedication to safety, responsibility, and productivity.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Camp Cook must have a pro-active approach and knowledge of kitchen equipment sufficient to anticipate potential problems and or safety issues / concerns and correct them prior to developing. The ability to respond calmly in escalating and / or emergency situations is paramount.

Camp Cook works independently and with others in a multi-functional environment and must be able to think logically, enjoy working with people and around animals on a daily basis, conscientious and reliable. The Kitchen serves as a central gathering area; Camp Cooks must be patient and capable of dealing with a variety of personalities.

Remote kitchen operations require agility, patience, and flexibility. Camp Cook must be capable of lifting 50 pounds on a regular basis. Supporting dog tour operations, Camp Cook must be comfortable working and living around animals in a community environment oriented toward customer service.

Working Conditions

Gold Rush Dog Tours, LLC operations are executed in a semi-remote setting with shared housing, living, and dining accommodations. Environments are subject to varied weather and the potential of periods of isolation without transportation to and from camp. All employees are responsible for maintaining a positive outlook and pleasant attitude.

Kitchen equipment is sufficient with a minimalist approach. The Kitchen includes a 4-burner propane range and oven and assorted kitchen tools, cutlery, pots, and pans. Camp Cook is encouraged to actively reduce waste throughout Kitchen Operations and develop menus regarding budgetary responsibility.

Reporting Relationships

The Camp Manager is hired by and reports to the Base Manager. Mushers, Handlers, Summer Camp Guides, the Photographer and Cook reports to the Camp Manager. All employee paperwork, payroll, and human resources material is submitted to the Office Manager / Chief Secretary.
