Cook Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Camp Cook is to prepare and deliver three well-balanced meals daily for 10 + / – employees. Camp Cook also prepares guest cookies, drinks, and other service-related items at the Camp Manager’s discretion. Working closely with the Camp Manager in the coordination of daily camp operations, Camp Cooks prepare a seven-day menu and order supplies accordingly. In accordance with permit specifications, Camp Cook will maintain a minimum of seven-days reserve food supply in camp.

Camp Cook is responsible for the proper execution of sanitation, preservation, and disinfection practices established by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Standards. Camp Cook participates in general camp duties as assigned and may assist with facilitating the smooth operation of tours including assisting in the arrival and departure of guests. While engaged in tour activities, Camp Cook will ensure that customer service delivery is of a uniform and high standard. Guest concerns, questions and/or complaints are addressed immediately; bringing all guest issues to the Camp Manager’s attention and remains in close contact during resolution and follow up.

All employees are responsible for the protection and proper use of Gold Rush equipment and foster a culture of safety promoting the application of associated Personal Protection Equipment Requirements.

All employees are responsible for ensuring quality standards and maintaining a superior working environment. Employees are encouraged to present suggestions for enhancing the safety of fellow Team Members, Guests, and Dogs, or ideas for streamlining procedures. Employees will assist in maintaining all necessary external (customer, vendor, and trade) relationships, consistent with the objectives, operating philosophy and desired image of Gold Rush Dog Tours, LLC.

Camp Cook ensures that wasted and non-productive time is eliminated, continually identifying areas to improve service, performance, and kitchen-related objectives. Maintaining a positive attitude and dedication to productivity, Camp Cooks accomplish assigned work and make decisions in a timely manner.

While guests are departing, all present and available employees acknowledge departing Guests by waving to exiting vehicles.
