Sled Dog Handler Position Expectation

The Sled Dog Handler position has the duties of a dog Handler and tour guide. Handlers will work throughout the Camp to meet the needs of the day-to-day operations. Handlers may be assigned different duties on any given day at the Camp Manager’s discretion.

Sled Dog Handlers work closely with Tour Mushers to develop required skills and assist Tour Mushers in all aspects of the dog yard, dog pen and tour related activities. Handlers must maintain a positive attitude and outlook toward the Dogs, Mushers, Guests and other Staff at all times.

Sled Dog Handlers continually solve problems as they arise and function as a troubleshooter, resolving issues before they can have a negative effect on operational efficiency. Handlers ensure proper maintenance of all operation facilities and equipment through daily inspections of camp and dog pens. Handlers are encouraged to suggest new products and / or services for the betterment of operations.

  • Personnel Policies and Procedures

Chain of Command

Sled Dog Handlers report directly to the Camp Manager. The Camp Manager reports to the Base Manager, who reports directly to the Ownership Team. Should a situation arise that a Sled Dog Handler feels uncomfortable in approaching the Camp Manager, the Sled Dog Handler should address their concerns to the General Manager or Office Manager. All other Handler questions, comments and concerns must adhere to the chain of command.
