Experience
The Summer Camp Guide is an entry-level position, with no experience necessary. Gold Rush Dog Tours, LLC demands employee dedication to safety, responsibility, and productivity. Previous experience in the hospitality and tourism industry is desirable.
All employees of Gold Rush Dog Tours, LLC must have and provide current CPR and First Aid or greater credentials, valid for the duration of the operating season, prior to employment. Summer Camp Guides will also need to provide a DOT Health Card.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Summer Camp Guides must have the ability to work around dogs and people. Must be capable of multi-tasking and working with others.
All employees must be able to anticipate potential guest problems and safety issues and concerns and correct them prior to escalating with a proactive approach to problem solving and guest relations. The ability to respond calmly in escalating and / or emergency situations is paramount.
Summer Camp Guides work independently and with others in a multi-functional environment. Summer Camp Guides must be able to think logically, enjoy working with people and animals on a daily basis, be conscientious and reliable.
Working Conditions
Gold Rush operations are executed in a semi-remote setting with shared housing, living, and dining accommodations. Environments are subject to varied weather with potential periods of isolation without transportation to and from camp. All employees are responsible for maintaining a positive outlook and pleasant attitude.
Reporting Relationships
The Camp Manager is hired by and reports to the Base Manager. Mushers, Summer Camp Guides, Handlers, Photographer and Camp Cook reports to the Camp Manager. All employee paperwork, payroll, and human resources material is submitted to the Office Manager / Chief Secretary.
